House Summary:

• A Cairhienin house of the second tier sworn in vassalage to House Rhiaghan, House Belovinde is closely affilaited by blood with its liege-house, as the High Seats, Lord Vailengil of Rhiaghan and Lady Solande of Belovinde, are first cousins, the children of brothers. When Queen Healle of House Cordaevell brought her heavy hand down upon those she thought would contest her rule, she moved effectively against House Rhiaghan, and by extension, House Belovinde.

  Unlike the members of House Rhiaghan, who have largely tranplanted themselves to Caemlyn during the duration for fear of their personal safeties, the Belovindes have remained in Cairhien, as they are less prominent. Lady Solande has endeavoured to restore the good will of the Sun Crown towards her house, however, and had arranged an advantageous match between her son and a kinswoman of the Queen, even as other betrothals have been acheived between other houses, notably Houses Moendivell and Daraghain. As hostage against any ambitions, however, the maiden heiress, after her father and grandmother, of House Belovinde, has been made a ward of Queen Healle, and resides within the Sun Palais.

  The family has one chief residence in the walled town of Ane Darest, a large stronghold called Clarion Keep, as well as lesser manses about its estates, and a sizable villa in Cairhien city. They do not rank among the upper tier of Great Lords such as Daraghain, Cordaevell or Ildevwyn.

• The current High Seat of Belovinde is Lady Solande, mother of two sons, and grandmother of four. Through her elder son and heir, Tristaen, she is the grandmother of a namesake granddaughter and a grandson. The granddaughter is a ward of the Sun Crown. Upon the death of her younger sister and her husband, Lady Solande has also taken their son, Timosaen, as her ward, and has arranged a political marriage for him to a daughter of House Moendivell.

  Nevertheless, despite Lady Solande's cautious and meticulous politics, her much younger brother Perivael schemes and plots against her, for with each successive generation, he is shunted further from the center of the family's holdings. It is beleived that he serves the Queen as one of her informers, called Healle's Needles.
